Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey made his first Premier league appearance in nearly two years as Leicester City pulverized Manchester City.
Daniel Amartey, who picked up an ankle injury in a league game against West Ham United at the King Power Stadium on October 27, 2018 was handed a start and lasted the entire duration.
Manchester City took an early lead through Riyad Mahrez. Last season’s top scorer, Jamie Vardy scored from the spot to keep the scoreline at 1-1 at the break.
Amartey picked up a yellow card in the 51st minute to stop Kevin De Bruyne from starting a dangerous attack.
Jamie Vardy scored twice in the space of 4 minutes to complete his hat-trick and hand Leicester a 3-1 lead.
James Maddison scored a spectacular in the 77th minute to make it 4-1. Nathan Ake in the 84th minute scored to reduce the deficit to 4-2, before Tielemans scored from the spot to make it 5-2.
Daniel Amartey’s impressive display in his first league appearance in nearly two years left a myriad of football fans drooling on social media.

I love the mentality of Daniel Amartey. Many would have given up but not this Teshie boy. First PL start in 2 years but he’s been rock solid.

Tremendous performance “from 1 to 11” from #lcfc today. Many men of the match but personally like to praise Daniel Amartey. He’s been through hell with his ankle injury, but he’s “back” judged on that effort. Genuine question: Do we need to sign a new centre back?
