Cristiano Ronaldo headlines as Portugal releases final squad for Qatar 2022 World Cup

Portugal have confirmed their 26-man squad for the Qatar World Cup and it includes five-time World best player Cristiano Ronaldo who will probably be playing in his last World Cup.

Fernando Santos named his official squad on Thursday, with an array of Premier League stars included, talking of the likes of João Cancelo, Diogo Dalot, Rúben Dias, Rúben Neves, Palhinha, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and Jose Sa.

39-year old Pepe, Joao Felix, Rafael Leao, Danilo Pereira, Nuno Mendes and so on also made the squad.

The surprise absentees are João Moutinho and Renato Sanchez who were both left out due to the manager’s decision, while Diogo Jota is ruled out due to an injury he suffered in October while playing for Liverpool against Arsenal.

Portugal who are hoping to win their first ever World Cup will kick start their campaign on Thursday, November 24 against Ghana, before playing Uruguay four days later and then South Korea on Friday, December 2. At
