Communications Director of Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo has stated that Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has promised to extend his contract with the club.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh who joined Hearts of Oak in December 2020 is on the verge of running his contract down with the club. Per reports, the Black Stars forward has turned down numerous contract offers from the club and he’s likely to leave for free.
Amid those reports, spokesperson of the club, Kwame Opare Addo has divulged that Barnieh has promised to extend his contract with the club.
“Authorities have sat down with Afriyie Barnieh over his contract issues for a very long time,” Opare Addo told Happy FM.
“The player has made the club understand that he will sign the contract extension and we are patiently waiting for him to do so because he has promised the club.”
“We have always communicated with Barnieh’s agent and the player himself and the assurance has always been the same so we are only hopeful that the consistent assurance would materialize,” he added.
Meanwhile, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has been included in Ghana’s 25-man squad for the pre-tournament trip to Egypt for the 2022 CHAN tournament in Algeria.
The Black Galaxies are pitted in Group C alongside Madagascar, Sudan and Morocco for the competition to be played from Friday, January 13, 2023 to Friday, February 3, 2023.
