Communicado Official: Nana Yaw Amponsah is Kotoko’s new CEO

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have announced young and promising football administrator, Nana Yaw Amponsah as new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the club.

After an administrative reshuffle, the Porcupine Warriors in June announced the end of George Amoako’s tenure as CEO of the club.

Since then, the Porcupine warriors have been on the hunt for a new CEO as the club hopes to look into a new direction. As the club aims at winning trophies again and doing well in Africa like the club previously did in the 70’s and 80’s.

After a long search, Kotoko have identified former Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential candidate, Nana Yaw Amponsah as the perfect man for the job.

The 36-year-old football administrator won the hearts of the newly constituted Asante Kotoko board with his ideas and plans. He was unveiled by the club on Friday.

The Phar Rangers bankroller is expected to use his expertise to brand the Ghanaian giants into one of the powerhouses in African football.

He will take over from board member Joseph Yaw Adu who has been acting in the interim in the absence of a CEO.

Aged 36, Nana Yaw Amponsah had a dream of becoming a professional footballer, he was quite talented but a horrific injury ended his dreams.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Political Science from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Master’s Degree in Sports Law and Practice from the Leicester DE Monort University, UK.

From 2008 to 2018, he was a Licensed Player Agent/Intermediary and transferred over 50 players from Ghana and almost 100 across the globe, which brought huge revenues to Ghanaian Clubs in the process.

Amponsah held the position as Chairman of Ghana Division One Club Phar Rangers FC from 2016 to 2020 before resigning to take up the Kotoko job.

He is  also a Licensed Players’ Agent/Intermediary from 2008 to 2018.

The Prestigious 40 Under 40 awardee, is the Director of Football for Phar Partnerships from 2014 to present and the Founder and CEO of Cornny Drinks Limited.

In 2019, he contested the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential elections, losing to Kurt Okraku.

The smart and intelligent Phar Rangers FC President, is an expert in the areas of Commercial Aspects of Sports, Sports and Ethics, Sports Governance, Representing the Athlete/Player and Sports Regulatory Regimes & Sports Rights, and ambush marketing.
