Club Tijuana outwit Santos Langua to sign Clifford Aboagye

Mexican giants Club Tijuana have announced the acquisition of 2013 U-20 World Cup Star, Clifford Aboagye.

Clifford Aboagye was in recent days heavily linked with a move to Santos Langua. However, Club Tijuana has outwitted Santos Langua to secure his services from Atlas on a permanent.

The club took to it twitter account to announce the signing of the Ghanaian midfielder. Clifford is one of nine signings announced by the club in the past few hours, he becomes the first Ghanaian player to sign for the Mexican club.

“Clifford Aboagye becomes the first Ghanaian player to arrive at La Jauría. Welcome!,” read the club’s announced that is translated from Spanish.

After the announcement by Club Tijuana, Clifford Aboagye took to his personal Twitter account to pen a farewell message to former Mexican club, Queretaro.

“Thank you very much @Club_Queretaro for opening the doors when I needed it most. It was a magnificent year full of good mementos. He especially mentioned the fans for always being in the moments. It was a pleasure to wear these colors and they will be in my heart !! ALWAYS ROOSTERS 🙏🏾🙌🏾💙🖤🐔”, read the player’s farewell message that is translated from Spanish.

Clifford Aboagye started his career in 2012 with Inter Allies FC in Ghana. After a solid performance at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where he was awarded the Bronze ball, he signed for Udinese in Serie A, before moving to Spain to sign with Granada.

Aboagye was then loaned to Atlas FC after two seasons with Granada FC. After having an impressive loan spell at Atlas, he signed permanently in 2018.

Clifford spent last season on loan at Querétaro and now becomes the latest acquisition of Club Tijuana.
