The Black Stars will return to competitive action next month in a AFCON qualifier double-header against Sudan and manager CK Akonnor is expected to announce his squad next week.

The game will be Ghana’s first competitive action in over a year and will be looking to continue their bright start to the qualifying process for AFCON 2022.

Majority of the players who featured in Ghana’s 3-0 defeat to Mali and 5-1 victory against Qatar in international friendlies earlier this month are expected to retain their position in the squad.

However, it remains unclear whether all seven players who tested positive for COVID-19 after the aforementioned games will be handed call-ups. Although they are recovering from the illness and are likely to begin training with their clubs by the end of the week.

Richard Ofori, John Antwi, Lumor Agbenyenu and Jeffery Schlupp are expected to make a return after missing out on the two friendly games due to work permit issues and injuries.

The first of the two games will take place at the Cape Coast stadium on Thursday, November 12, 2020 and will kick off at 4PM GMT.

The second game is scheduled for Tuesday, Novermbe 17, 2020 in Khartoum.

Referee Maguette Ndiaye from Senegal has been appointed to handle the encounter in Cape Coast. He will be assisted by compatriots El Hadji Malick Samba (Assistant 1), Serigne Cheikh Toure (Assistant II) and Dauda Gueye (fourth official).

Sanusi Mohammed from Nigeria will be the Match Commissioner.

Ghana currently sit first in group C with 6 points after beating South Africa 2-0 and São Tomé and Principe 1-0. A form they’ll like to continue against Sudan.
