Kumasi Asante Kotoko have parted ways with defender Christopher Nettey.
The Ghana Premier holders have decided against extending the contract of the right back which ended on Monday, December 26, 2022.
“We have considered the counteroffer presented and regret to inform you that upon further deliberation, we deem it appropriate not to renew your employment contract with the club,” a portion of the letter to Nettey intercepted by GHANAsoccernet.com reads.
The development means Christopher Nettey who joined Asante Kotoko in December 2019 from lower-tier side Attram de Visser Academy is a free agent, thus can hold negotiations with any club.
Per a report, the right-back has held positive negotiations with Hearts of Oak and he’s close to agreeing a deal with the club.
Nettey who made his debut for the Ghana national team in November 2020 in a Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan at the Cape Coast Stadium is seen as replacement for the departed Mohammed Fatawu.
Should the two parties reach an agreement, the deal will be officially announced in the coming days.
