Head Coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has handed a call-up to Hamburg forward Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer as replacement for Inaki Williams who has been ruled out of the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group E qualifier against Madagascar.
The Athletic Bilbao forward who is part of the team summoned for the crucial game by Chris Hughton has been ruled out with an injury to his right knee, a statement revealed.
The statement read: “Since a few weeks I’ve been playing with pain in my right knee. I decided to play until the end of the season, but after having spoken to the medical services, we’ve decided to stop and solve the problem to be 100% for the preseason.”
“This wasn’t an easy decision to make because I won’t be able to be with my national team, Ghana the next meeting.
“I want to say that I am fully committed and I will come back with the Blackstars if the coach deems it appropriate next calls. Thank you four your support,” the statement ended.
In the absence of Inaki Williams, Chris Hughton has drafted Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer into the team. The Hamburg forward will join the squad in Accra when they commence camping on June 12 for the penultimate 2023 AFCON qualifier.
