Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has agreed to play for the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars.

The decision comes in after a meeting between ‘incoming’ Head Coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton and the father of the Chelsea winger, Bismark Odoi at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on Sunday afternoon.

At the meeting, Bismark Odoi, who played for Hearts of Oak in 90’s disclosed that his son is willing to play for a Ghana if Chris Hughton is made new Head Coach of the Black Stars, a report from the reliable Muftawu Nabila disclosed.

Odoi, who was born in England to Ghanaian parents has represented England at different Youth levels and has made 3 appearances for the England senior national team. However, he’s still eligible to represent Ghana.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is one of many Ghanaian players born abroad Chris Hughton has set sights on convincing to play for the Black Stars once he’s confirmed as new manager of the team.

Hughton, whose managerial pedigree spans across 20 years will also be looking to convince the likes of Tariq Lamptey, Eddie Nketiah, Brain Brobbey, Enock Kwateng and others.

Chris Hughton is favorite to become new Head Coach of the Black Stars following the sacking of Milovan Rajevac after Ghana’a shocking exit from the group stages of the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

If negotiations go on as planned, Hughton is expected to be in the dugout when Ghana face Nigeria in the playoff of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in March.
