Caleb Amankwah’s goal not enough to save chaotic Hearts of Oak from CAF Confederations Cup exit

Accra Hearts of Oak bowed out of the CAF Confederations Cup despite beating Malian fold AS Real Bamako 1-0 in the second leg of the second qualifying round at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Phobians headed into the game hoping to turn around a 3-0 defeat they suffered in the first leg a week ago. However, that didn’t materialize as they won the game by 1-0.

The only goal of the game was scored by Caleb Amankwah in the 89th minute.

The result means that the Phobians bow out of the Confederations Cups in the second qualifying round for the second consecutive season.

Last season, the Phobians after falling out of the CAF Champions League failed to go past the second qualifying round of the Confederations Cup, losing to JS Saoura of Algeria.
