CAF announce date for the 2023 AFCON draw

The official Draw of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023 will be conducted on Thursday, October 12, 2023, according to the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football.

The twenty-four qualified teams including host Cote D’Ivoire will know their path in the biennial tournament.

Following the fourth round of the qualifiers for the AFCON, six countries have now secured a place at the competition joining hosts, Cote d’Ivoire. They are Morocco, Algeria, South Africa, holders Senegal, Burkina Faso and Tunisia.

Record holders Egypt, Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Algeria, Mali and so on are all gunning for slots in the next edition of the tournament.

The remaining slots will be decided when Gameweek 5 and Gameweek 6 of the qualifiers are played in June and September 2023.

The AFCON which was initially scheduled to be played in June 2023 but was postponed due to weather conditions in the host nation will kickoff on Saturday, 13 January 2024 and will run until Sunday, 11 February 2024.
