BREAKING NEWS: Sadio Mane ruled out of the Qatar 2022 World Cup

Senegal’s star man Sadio Mane has been ruled out of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, medics of the Senegalese national team have confirmed.

Sadio Mane suffered a fibula injury whiles playing for Bayern Munich earlier this month against Werder Bremen in German Bundesliga.

Despite the injury, the Bayern forward was included in Senegal’s final squad for the World Cup, with hopes that he will recover in time and play a key role in their quest for glory in Qatar.

However, the latest development stipulates that Sadio Mane will not be able to recover from the injury anytime soon, ruling him out of the World Cup which kicks off this weekend.

According to the medical department of the Senegalese national team, it was discovered that Sadio Mane will be unable to feature at the World Cup after a new magnetic resonance examination was analyzed.

The development will be huge blow to Senegal who are due to play Netherlands, Qatar and Ecuador in the Group Stages of the competition.

Sadio Mane has been an influential figure for the team since he appeared on the scene in 2012, making 93 appearances and scoring 34 times.

Earlier this year, he was instrumental for the team on their way to winning the Africa Cup of Nations as they beat Egypt on penalties in the final. He scored three goals and was the provider of two other goals in the competition.

Meanwhile, Argentina’s Nicolas Gonzalez has also been ruled out of the World Cup after picking an injury on Thursday in training session. The Fiorentina forward will be replaced in the team by Atletico Madrid’s ‪Ángel Correa ‬.
