Ghana Premier League holders Kumasi Asante Kotoko has announced that Brazilian International Fabio Gama has left the club.
The 29-year old leaves the club following the expiration of his contract, a tweet on the official Twitter handle of the club revealed.
According to the tweet, Gama decided against renewing his contract with the club due to personal and family reasons, contrary to what has been reported by the media in recent days.
The tweet read: “Fabio Gama leaves Asante Kotoko after the expiration of his contract.
“Fabio informed Management at the end of the season of his desire to explore other opportunities elsewhere after two successful season with the Club.
“He explained the personal and family reasons related to the decision and Management are respectful of same. It was never an issue of the club’s inability to meet his demands as none was made.
“We thank Fabio and his family for many wonderful memories, positive attitude and sense of professionalism during his stay.
“Asante Kotoko wish him the very best in his next adventure,” it ended.
Fabio Gama joined Asante Kotoko as a free agent in 2020. The Brazilian international recently helped the club win the Ghana Premier League, the first since 2014.
During his two-year with the club, Gama won the hearts of a plethora of Ghanaian football followers with his deft touches and vision. He made 48 league appearances, scored 5 goals and provided 10 assists.
The 29-year has already commenced life outside Ghana, signing for Bahrain fold Muharraq Club.
