Bofoakwa Tano FC beat Heart of Lions to win the Ghana Premier League edition of the Ignite Media Group League Cup

Bofoakwa Tano FC were crowned champions of the Ghana Premier League edition of the Ignite Media Group League Cup.

The competition which was the maiden edition was played at the Adjringanor Astro turf on Saturday, September 9 and was reserved for fans of all 18 betPawa Premier League clubs.

Of the 18 betPawa Premier League clubs, 8 clubs showed up for the competition. The teams include; Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Heart of Lions, Real Tamale United (RTU), Nations FC, Samartex 1996, Bofoakwa Tano and Berekum Chelsea.

Bofoakwa Tano proved to be the best side in the competition, maneuvering their way to the final, where they defeated Heart of Lions 4-3 on penalties after a scoreless draw to emerge winners.

For winning the competition, Bofoakwa Tano received a beauteous trophy, cash prize and other prizes. Heart of Lions were also rewarded for finishing in second place.

The essence of the competition organized by Ignite Media Group is to improve the togetherness amongst fans of the respective clubs and also promote the betPawa Premier League.

Meanwhile, the 2023/24 betPawa Premier League season is scheduled to kickoff on Friday, September 15. Real Tamale United will face Hearts of Oak in the opening game at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.
