Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars will open camp Today, Monday, September 4, 2023 in Accra for the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Central African Republic in Kumasi.
The Black Stars are billed to play the Central African nation in the final Group E game of the AFCON to be played in Cote D’Ivoire in January and February next year.
Twenty five (25) players have been invited for the game by the Head Coach of the team, Chris Hughton.
All the 25 players are expected to honor the call-up, with a number of them expected to report to camp in Accra by the close of today.
The team is expected to hold its first training today at the Accra Sports Stadium as preparations get underway for the ‘make or break’ game.
Ghana head into the game to be played on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi needing at least a draw to qualify for the AFCON.
Meanwhile, the team will also take on Liberia in a friendly encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 12.
The Black Stars after 5 group games sit top of Group E with 9 points. Angola sit second with 8 points, Central Africa Republic sit third with 7 points and Madagascar bottom with 2 points.
