Black Stars start preparations for Central African Republic clash with twelve (12) players

The Black Stars commenced preparations for the final Group E African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Central African Republic on Monday, September 4 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

A total of twenty five (25) players were handed call-up for the crucial game. Twelve (12) of the players reported to camp on the opening and were involved in a light training session in Accra under the guidance of coach Chris Hughton, his two assistants, George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and Goalkeeper’s trainer, Richard Kingston.

The players involved in the first training session include; Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi, skipper Andre Ayew, Baba Iddrisu, Mohammed Kudus, Gideon Mensah and Antoine Semenyo, Joseph Aidoo, Elisha Owusu, Osman Bukari, Edmund Addo and Jonathan Sowah.

A number of the remaining thirteen (13) players are expected to arrive tonight. The team will travel to Kumasi on Tuesday, September 5, where they’ll intensify preparations for the game.

Ghana head into the crucial game scheduled for Thursday, September 7 needing at least a draw to qualify for the AFCON scheduled to be played in the Cote D’Ivoire in January and February next year.

The Black Stars after 5 group games sit top of Group E with 9 points. Angola sit second with 8 points, Central Africa Republic sit third with 7 points and Madagascar bottom with 2 points.
