The Black Stars have arrived in Rabat, Morocco for Tuesday’s International friendly against Morocco.
The team departed Accra on Sunday and touched down in Rabat, Monday morning. Captain Andre Ayew made the trip to Rabat for the game.
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey will not be available for the game after he was excused by head coach CK Akonnor due to fintness reasons.
Chinese-based duo Mubarak Wakaso and Frank Acheampong failed to honor the call-ups due to the current COVID-19 restrictions in China. First choice goalkeeper Richard Ofori didn’t make the trip due to an injury.
Youngsters Kamaldeen Sulemana and Kamal Sowah who were initially handed call-ups by CK Akonnor didn’t also make the trip due to reasons yet to be revealed, whiles Tarique Fosu was reportedly axed from camp for reporting late.
Home-based trio Ismail Ganiyu, Gladson Awako and Rashid Nortey who were released for the weekend’s Premier League games made the trip.
The game against Moroccan will be Ghana’s first game since March this year when they drew with South Africa (1-1) and defeated Sao Tome and Principe (3-1) to qualify for a record 9th straight Africa Cup of Nations tournament
Ghana will take on the Atlas Lions of Morocco on Tuesday, June 8, at the FAR Sportive stadium in Rabat.
The two countries will use the match to prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which were rescheduled by CAF/FIFA to September 2021 over COVID-19 concerns.
