The Black Starlets (Male U-17 team) defeated Switzerland 3-2 in the final game of the UEFA under-16 youth development tournament to emerge winners.
Ghana finished the mini competition which took place in Serbia with a perfect record, winning all their three game.
In the first game, the Black Starlets defeated host nation Serbia 4-0, before coming from a goal down to beat Spain 3-2 in the second game.
Ghana signed out of the competition with a 3-2 win against Switzerland. Asumadu Ramsey of Raymond FC scored a brace and Kenpong Academy’s Afirim Debra Bossman scored the other goal.
The win sees Ghana win the development tournament for the first time since it was introduced in 2012 by UEFA.
The essence of the competition is to help introduce young players to international football and smooth the pathway into the senior game.
The tournament has in the past provided the platform for the likes of Erling Haaland, Matthijs De Ligt, Phil Foden, Gavi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and so to hone their talents.
