Ghana’s Under-20 side, the Black Satellites will no longer participate in the 42nd edition of the Under-19 Terborg Tournament scheduled to take place in Holland this month.
The Black Satellites were scheduled to participate in the youth competition with 7 football clubs from Europe and South America.
However, the team will no longer participate due to difficulties in the acquisition of visa, the organizers of the competition have confirmed in a social media post.
“Last-minute change in the field of participants: Heerenveen is in! Ghana-18 national team visa issues have forced us to cancel their participation in our 42nd edition last-minute edition. So no Ghanaian samba this year at Sportpark de Paasberg,” part of the statement written in dutch read.
The Black Satellites who were scheduled to open the competition against holders Vitesse on Friday, June 2, 2023 will be replaced by Heerenveen.
Other teams to participate in the competition include; Vejle BK, FC Twente/Heracles, PSV, Odense BK, Palmeiras and De Graafschap.
Meanwhile, the Black Satellites will continue camping at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram towards the Male U-20 WAFU B Cup of Nations to be played in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Black Satellites are drawn in Group A alongside host nation Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Niger. Group B is made up of Nigeria, Togo and Burkina Faso.
The competition will be played from Friday, July 7 to Friday, July 21, 2023
