Black Satellites beat Niger to earn a place at the 2021 Africa Youth Championship

The Black Satellites (U-20) have sealed a place at the Africa Youth Championship to be staged in Mauritania next year after defeating Niger in the semifinals of the WAFU Zone B U-20 championship this afternoon.

The Black Satellites faced off with Niger at the Stade de Gaules in Benin this afternoon.

The game after 90 minutes ended scoreless, Ghana had the better chances but failed to burry the ball at the back of the net. Abdul Mugeez Zakaria, Sulley Mohammed and Precious Boah forced the Nigerien goalkeeper into making good saves.

The encounter went into extra time, but still saw no goals. Ghana had the ball at the back of the net, but was ruled out for offside.

Coach Karim Zito brought on Emmanuel Essue for Dan Lad Ibrahim as penalties approached. The tactical substitution paid of as Ghana converted all spot kicks to beat Niger 5-3.

William Esu, Suleymana Mohammed, Abdul Mugese Zakaria, Percious Boah and Frank Boateng converted Ghana’s spot kicks.

The Black Satellites will play the winner in the game between Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.
