Ghana’s U-23 team, the Black Meteors will take on Dreams FC in a friendly encounter later today at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The friendly game which forms part of Ghana’s preparations for 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Mozambique will kickoff at 3:00 pm.
Head Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his technical team will be using the friendly game to access the team for the games scheduled for October 21 to 30. Ghana will travel away for the first leg, before hosting Mozambique in the return encounter.
Should the Black Meteors emerge victorious, they’ll advance to the final qualifying round where they’ll face the winner of the game between DR Congo and Algeria.
The winner of the two-legged affair will qualify for the the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be played in Morocco next year.
The final tournament of the U-23 AFCON which will see 8 teams together with host nation Morocco compete will serve as qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris.
The Black Meteors missed out on the 2020 Olympics in Japan after finishing 4th at the U-23 AFCON in Egypt – 2019. Ghana is yet to play at the Olympic Games since 2004 in Greece.
