The U-17 Women’s team of Ghana, the Black Maidens defeated their Moroccan counterparts by 3-0 in a friendly encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) arranged the friendly game as part of the Black Maidens’ preparations for the 2022 FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup Qualifier against Senegal in March.
Ghana opened the scoring in the 17 minute through a Stella Nyamekye’s header. The team doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime through Georgina Aoyem, before Mariam Matiti Iddi wrapped the game up in the 2nd half.
The Black Maidens will continue their preparations for the World Cup qualifiers in Egypt. The team will depart Accra for Cairo on Monday, February 14, 2022 for a one-week training tour.
Whiles in Egypt, the Black Maidens will take on their Egyptian counterparts in a friendly game. Head Coach, Baba Nuhu is expected to use the game to prepare for the first round of the World Cup qualifiers against Senegal in March.
The Black Maidens will first play their Senegalese counterparts in Dakar, Senegal on March 3, with the return leg slated for March 19 in Ghana.
The U-17 Women’s team have been to six World Cup competitions since its inception in 2008 and are hoping to make their 7th appearance at this year’s edition which will take place in India.
