The Black Galaxies will represent Ghana at the Austria Mini Football Tournament to be played next month in Austria.
The Austria Mini Football Tournament is a four-team tournament to be played at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Austria.
Ghana at the competition will come up against Qatar, Jamaica and Morocco. The competition will run from Saturday, August 20 to Friday, August 26 and will see the four participating team play against each other.
With a number of European leagues set to begin in August, the regular Black Stars team will be unavailable for the game. In that regards, the Ghana FA has confirmed that the Black Galaxies will represented the country.
The Black Galaxies are currently playing in the 2023 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
The team on Sunday won the first leg of the first round of the qualifiers against Benin by the 3-0 at the Cape Stadium. Hearts of Oak trio of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Mohammed Alhassan and skipper Gladson Awako grabbed the goals.
The Black Galaxies will leave the shores of Ghana on Thursday, July 26 for the second leg scheduled for Saturday, July 30 at Stade Charles De Gaulles in Porto Novo at 4:00 pm.
Should the Black Galaxies avoid losing by more than three goals, they’ll advance to the second and final of the qualifiers where they’ll face bitterest rivals Nigeria.
The winner of the game will secure a place at the CHAN to be played in Algeria in 2003. Ghana has failed to make the last three editions of the CHAN, losing to Burkina Faso in the last two editions.
