Ghana’s local national team, the Black Galaxies will begin early preparations for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship, Algeria 2022, Head Coach of the team, Annor Walker has revealed.
The experience gaffer made the revelation while explaining why he wasn’t included in a list of 4 local coaches to travel to Qatar with the Black Stars on a working attachment.
“I was invited by GFA to be part of the 4 coaches going to World Cup but I declined because from 20th November when World Cup starts I will be busy in camp with Black Galaxies preparing for the Algeria CHAN tournament scheduled to take place in January 2023,” Annor Walker told Oyerepa FM.
“I will even travel outside Ghana within that period as well so we both agreed I can’t be part due to my national team engagement,” he added.
Annor Walker’s squad to commence preparations for the CHAN is expected to be dominated by players who were involved in the qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.
The likes of Gladson Awako, Suraj Seidu, Jonnah Attuquaye, Augustine Randolf, Dominic Nsobila, Razak Kasim, David Abagna, Mohammed Alhassan, Vincent Atingah, Samuel Abbey Quaye and so on are expected to make the squad.
Dennis Korsah, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Ibrahim Danlad who have been included in Ghana’s provisional squad for the World Cup will join the team in camp should they fail to make the final squad.
The Black Galaxies are drawn in Group C alongside holders Morocco, two-time bronze winners Sudan and debutants Madagascar for the group stages of the CHAN which kicks off on Friday, January, 13, 2023.
Ghana are making their fourth appearance at the competition and are hoping to win the ultimate for the first time.
