Head Coach of Ghana’s local national team, Annor Walker has handed call-up to 40 players to report to camp in Prampram this weekend as the team begins preparations for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN), Algeria 2022.
The 40-man squad is dominated by players who were involved in the qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.
The likes of Gladson Awako, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Ibrabim Danlad, Suraj Seidu, Jonnah Attuquaye, Augustine Randolf, Dominic Nsobila, Razak Kasim, David Abagna, Samuel Abbey Quaye and so on made the squad.
Annor Walker also handed call-up to current Premier League top scorer Afriyie Mezack Derrick Fordjour, Stephen Diyuo, Seidu Abubakar, Abdul Latif Anabila, Kwame Adom Frimpong etc. who have all been fantastic for their respective clubs this season.
Evans Osei Wusu who played a key role in the team’s qualification for the CHAN and Vision’s Kwame Otu were the only Division One League players named in the squad.
All the 40 players with the exception of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Ibrahim Danlad who are both with the Black Stars in Qatar for the World Cup are expected to report to camp on Sunday, November 27, 2022.
The Black Galaxies are drawn in Group C alongside holders Morocco, two-time bronze winners Sudan and debutants Madagascar for the group stages of the CHAN which kicks off on Friday, January, 13, 2023.
Ghana are making their fourth appearance at the competition and are hoping to win the ultimate for the first time.
The Black Galaxies who are playing in the competition for the first time since 2014 have reached the final twice (2009, 2014), losing 2-0 to DR Congo in the 2009 edition and to Libya on penalty shootouts in the 2014 edition.
