Black Galaxies beat Egypt U-20 in friendly encounter

Ghana’s local national team, the Black Galaxies defeated the national U20 team of Egypt, the Young Pharaohs 2-0 in a friendly encounter at the Cairo International Stadium.

Kofi Kordzi gave the team the lead in the 15th minute from close range, before Sylvester Simba wrapped the game up with a beautiful curler from inside in the box in the 57th minute.

The friendly game is the first of test games lined up for Coach Annor Walker’s side during their stay in Cairo where they are preparing for the Championship of African Nations (CHAN).

The team could face an Egyptian Premier League side in the next friendly as part of the build up to the CHAN tournament slated for Friday, January 13 to Saturday, February 4, 2023.

Ghana is pitted in Group C for the group stages of the competition alongside holders Morocco, two-time bronze winners Sudan and debutants Madagascar.

The Black Galaxies will kickoff their campaign against Madagascar on Sunday, January 15, before playing Sudan on Thursday, January 19 and Morocco on Monday, January 23.
