Ghana are set to lose out on wonder-kid Jeremy Doku after he was handed his first senior call up by the country of his birth Belgium for their Uefa Nations League games against Denmark and Iceland next month.
The Anderlecht winger has heavily been courted by the country of his parents Ghana, but has now decided to play for Belgium.
If it could be recalled, few months ago, head coach of the Black Stars CK Akonnor visited the player in Belgium in bid to convince him to play for Ghana.
The youngster who made his breakthrough last season recently divulged that he will need more time to decide on whether he’s going to represent Ghana or not.
“I have made it clear to him I need time to make the right decision”, Jeremy Doku who has represented Belgium at youth level said.
But with the youngster earning a call up to the Belgium national team, it looks like he has chosen to represent the country of his birth, and it is to play with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard etc.
“A dream come true 🙏🏾 Very proud moment for me to get my first call up @BelRedDevils , but this is just the start 🙌🏾🇧🇪”, Doku wrote on Twitter after earning his maiden Belgium national team call-up.

With the Belgium golden generation aging, Belgium manager Roberto Martinez will like to integrate the likes of Jeremy Doku, Dharles De Ketelaere etc. into the team to remain competitive.
“Jérémy Doku and Dharles De Ketelaere . We want to influence their progress by letting them gain experience,” the Spaniard is quoted as saying.
