The dream to play in the 2020/2021 UEFA Champions league for Bernard Mensah and Besiktas took a nosedive on Tuesday evening. It wasn’t any different for Winful Cobbinah and KF Tirana.

Besiktas suffered a 3-1 defeat to Greek side FC PAOK, whiles KF Tirana lost 1-0 to Richmond Boakye Yiadom’s Red Star Belgrade.

A brace from Christos Tzolis and a goal from Dimitris Pelkas gave PAOK a 3-0 lead, Cyle Larin grabbed the consolation goal for Besiktas.

Bernard Mensah, who recently joined Besiktas from Kayserispor on a year loan deal with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season marked his debut, but it was one he will never wish to remember.

Mensah started the game but was replaced by Dorukhan Toköz in the 70th minute.

Winful Cobinnah as well started the game for KF Tirana, but was subbed off in the 73rd minute as Tomane’s 61st minute strike ended coach Ndubuisi Egbo’s Champions league dream.

Richmond Boakye-Yiadom watched Red Star Belgrade’s victory from the bench.

All hopes isn’t lost for Besiktas and KF Tirana in Europe, they get to play in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League as they hope to seal a place in the Group stages.
