Berekum Chelsea finally defeated, Kotoko held in Kumasi, Nightmares for Dreams at the Theatre of Dreams: Gameweek 7 Review

Gameweek 7 brought us some fascinating games, with a total of 20 goals being scored.

We take a look at how things unfolded in all 9 games:

KARELA 3-0 LEGON CITIES

Legon Cities traveled to Tarkwa hoping to secure their second win of the season. Karela opened the scoring in the 28th minute, Ofosu Abegna controlled a beautiful long ball from a free kick in his own half and laid it off to Diawisie Taylor whose shot deflect off Oppong Romeo and went in, his first goal of the season. Karela made it two with some few minutes to halftime, after a good work by Shaibu Iddrisu down the left flank, he laid the ball to Samuel Ofori who was left unmarked in the box. He slotted the ball past Fatawu Duada. Legon Cities had a much different and improved second half, they saw most of the ball but couldn’t create any real goal scoring chance. Diawisie Taylor rounded the game off in the 80th minute with a well taken shot in the box. The game ended 3-0. Diawisie Taylor was adjudged man of the match.

INTER ALLIES 4-2 KING FAISAL

King Faisal came into the game hoping to secure their first win of the season whiles Inter Allies were hoping to secure a win since beating Bechem United in gameweek 2. Victorien Adebayor scored in the 15th minute to open the scoring, the strike was his 5th of the season so far. Samuel Armah doubled the lead for Inter Allies in the 36th minute, Inter Allies went into the break 2-0 up. King Faisal were not going give up, Ibrahim Osman scored 10 minutes after the break to reduce the deficit and give his side a glimmer of hope. Substitute Mustapha Mohammed made it 2-2 in the 59th minute with a beautiful volley. Samuel Armah in the 85th registered his second on the day and the 3rd for his side with a simple tap in, 3-2 to Inter Allies. Substitute Michael Gyamerah scored in the 90th minute to make it 4-2, he rounded off the goal and tapped the ball into the net. Victorien Adebayor was named man of the match.

ELMINA SHARKS 1-1 ELEVEN WONDERS

Eleven Wonders came into the game at the back of 2 nil victory at home to Karela, and were hoping to secure their first away point of the season. They nearly took the lead in the early minutes of the game, but goalkeeper Joseph Essam was there to deny them. The first half of the game ended goalless draw. Eleven Wonders started the second half brightly and took the lead in the 56th minute, Musa Sulley finished off a pass from Kwadwo Asamoah to make it 1-0. Emmanuel Addington restored parity in the 68th minute with a beautiful shot outside the box. Both teams pushed men forward hoping to get the winner, but that wasn’t meant to happen today. The game ended 1-1. The draw was the fifth Elmina Sharks have recorded this season and the first point Eleven Wonders have picked away from home in this campaign. Emmanuel Addington was adjudged man of the match.

GREAT OLYMPICS 0-1 WAFA

Olympics were unbeaten in 3 games, Wafa as well haven’t won a game since gameweek 2. The Sogakope boys came to Accra with the hope of changing that. WAFA took the lead in the 25th minute through Eric Asamany, he dribbled past two Great Olympics defenders before slotting home after collecting a threaded pass from Forson Amankwah. Minutes later, Asamany missed a glorious opportunity to double the lead. Olympics pressed on throughout the remaining minutes of the game, but couldn’t change the score. WAFA won the game 1-0. Gladson Awako was named man of the match.

ADUANA STARS 1-0 MEDEAMA

Aduana Stars extended their unbeaten run at the Nana Agyemang Badu Stadium after recording a 1-0 victory against Medeama. The first half of the game ended in stalement, both sides had some nervy moments. Yahya Mohammed broke the deadlock in the 75th minute with a beautiful freekick, the goal was his 7th strike of the season and his 7th goal at the Nana Agyemang Badu Stadium. Aduana won the game by 1-0. Caleb Amankwah was named man of the match.

ASANTE KOTOKO 1-1 LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS

Asante Kotoko were held at home by Liberty Professionals. After a tight first 45 minutes that ended scoreless, Liberty Professionals scored the first goal of the game in the 56th minute, Tamimu Muntari made a decent run from the right wing to hit home from inside the penalty box. 1-0 to Liberty. William Opoku came from the bench to restore parity in the 84th minute, he took advantage of a miscommunication in the Liberty defense to head home and make 1-1. The game ended 1-1. Liberty recorded another point away from home. Eric Danso was named man of the match.

ASHANTI GOLD 1-0 EBUSUA DWARFS

Ashanti Gold recorded their 4th win of the season after beating Ebusua Dwarfs by 1-0. Ashanti Gold created numerous good chances in the first half, but couldn’t burry any of their chances, McCarthy and Latif Anabila came close. The first half ended 0-0. Ashanti Gold continued the second half just like they left it. The deadlock was finally broken in the 75th minute, Samed Ibrahim the scorer. The game ended 1-0 in favor of Ashanti Gold. Goalscorer Samed Ibrahim was adjudged Nasco man of he match.

BECHEM UNITED 2-1 BEREKUM CHELSEA

Bechem United handed Berekum Chelsea their first defeat of the season. Bechem United didn’t take long to open the scoring, Charles Mensah in the 3rd minute scored to make it 1-0 to Bechem United. Berekum Chelsea leveled the scoreline in the 20th minute, Kofi Agbesimah put the ball in his own net. Prince Adu Kwabena scored in the dying embers of the first half to make it 2-1 for Bechem United. There wasn’t much to have an effect on the scoreline in the second half, the game ended 2-1 in favor of Bechem United. It was their 4th win of the season and Berekum Chelsea’s first defeat of the season. Youngster Prince Adu Kwabena was named Nasco man of the match.

DREAMS 0-1 HEARTS OF OAK

It was a nightmare for Dreams at the Theatre of Dreams, they lost by a goal to nil to Hearts of Oak. The Phobians came close to opening the scoring on numerous occasions in the first half, Benjamin Afutu missed a free header in the opening minutes of the game. Esso also came close twice, he struck the upright on both occasions. Accra Hearts of Oak broke the deadlock in the 55th minute. After a string of decent passes at the edge of the Dreams 18 yard box, kofi Kordzi turned nicely and hit a low shot into the bottom of the net to make it 1-0 to Hearts of Oak. There was little to change the scoreline from then, Hearts of Oak carried the day by 1-0. Joseph Esso was named man of the match.
