Gent have confirmed the signing of Ghanaian forward Osman Bukari.

The 21-year-old joins on a 3-year-deal from Slovakian fold Trencin for an undisclosed fee.

Osman Bukari enjoyed a fine 2019/20 season with Trencin, scoring 10 goals and providing 9 assists in just 26 games. He in the process was named as the most productive footballer of the league and as well earned a place in the Slovak Fortuna Liga ‘Team of the Year’.

Bukari’s stellar performances earned him a place on the transfer list of the likes of Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Monaco, Parma and some few others, but he has chosen Belgium giants Gent as the club to help him develop.

“I joined Anderlehct in 2018 and played for the second team. From Anderlehct I went to Slovakia and now I am back again in Belgium,” Bukari said at his unveiling on Friday.

“It wasn’t easy to come from Africa to make an impact in Europe but I did my best to be at this level. I am very happy to be here and I promise the fans that I will do everything to make them happy.”

The promising forward started his football career with Ghanaian fold Accra Lions. In January 2018, he was loaned out for half a season to the reserves of RSC Anderlecht, before joining Trencin in the summer of 2018.

The Ghana U-23 player has played a total of 66 matches for Trencin, scoring 16 goals and providing 25 assists.

Bukari is expected to improve the Gent squad that is aiming to seal a place in the group stages of the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League.
