Ati-Zigi starts in goal, Baba Rahman returns as Jordan captains the team: Ghana’s lineup vs Central African Republic

Head Coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has announced his squad for the final Group E game of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Central African Republic.

Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi who has been first choice since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar starts in goal, starting ahead of Richard Ofori and Abdul Manaf Nurudeen.

Alidu Seidu starts at right back and is joined by Baba Rahman at left back. Joseph Aidoo and Alexander Djiku are paired in defense.

In midfield, Salis Abdul Samed and Elisha Owusu are handed starting roles. Jordan Ayew and Osman Bukari occupy either flank, while Mohammed Kudus and Inaki Williams occupy the number 10 and 9 positions respectively.

Ghana need at least a draw from the game to secure qualification to the 2023 AFCON to be played in Ivory Coast in January and February this year.

The Black Stars after 5 group games sit top of Group E with 9 points. Angola sit second with 8 points, Central Africa Republic sit third with 7 points and Madagascar bottom with 2 points.
