Following the disappointing development, the club opted to travel to Sudan for the preseason tour, where they’ll engage in four friendly games against opponents qualified for CAF competitions.

Asante Kotoko will then play Tanzanian Champions Simba SC on Sunday, August 28, before playing a yet to be named CAF Confederations Cup participating club on Tuesday, August 30 or Wednesday, August 31.

The friendly games are to prepare the team for the 2022/23 football season. The Porcupine Warriors have set sights on retaining the betPawa Premier League title, making an impact in the CAF Champions League and winning the MTN FA Cup.

Asante Kotoko will officially begin the new season against rivals Hearts of Oak in the Super Cup on Monday, September 5 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors will begin their Premier League title defense at home to new boys Nsoatreman between September 9-11.

Howbeit, that game is expected to be postponed due to the club’s involvement in the first round of the CAF Champions League qualifiers against Burkinabe Champions RC Kadiogo.
