Karela United midfielder Umar Bashiru has revealed why he terminated his contract with Asante Kotoko in his previous stint with the team.
The midfielder who enjoyed a great 2021/22 season with the Western-based side is currently linked to Asante Kotoko.
The Black Galaxies midfielder is no new figure to the Porcupine Warriors as he played for the team from 2018-19.
Amid reports of him rejoining the club, questions have been asked as to why he left the club in the first place back then.

In a private conversation with Clinton Eleto of Sahara Football, the midfielder revealed that he left the team because then coach Kjetil Zachariason told he wasn’t part of his plans.
“When the new coach came I trained with him once and I became sick so I couldn’t train for many days. So when I was okay and went to train he said he doesn’t know me so he has selected his players and no one has talked about me,” said Umar Bashiru.
Umar Bashiru terminated his contract with Asante Kotoko and went on to sign for Karela. The attacking midfielder has now become an household name at Karela.
In the just ended season, he made 31 league appearances for the team, scored 14 goals, provided 4 assists and won 4 man of the match awards.

His amazing statistics earned him a call-up to the local national team for the 2023 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers, where he has so far stolen the headlines with two brilliant assists against Benin.
