Communications Director of Asante Kotoko, David Obeng Nyarko has debunked reports that his oufit has signed former Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari.

Following the expiration of Sulley Muntari’s contract with Hearts of Oak, the experienced midfielder has been heavily linked to Asante Kotoko.

Last night, reports went swirling that Sulley Muntari after holding positive talks with the management team of Asante Kotoko has agreed to join the club on a two-year deal.

However, spokesperson of the club, David Obeng Nyako has taken to Twitter to downplay the reports.

Sulley Muntari signed for Hearts of Oak on a 6-month deal in February. The 37-year old was fantastic for the club throughout his time, scoring a goal and providing 3 assists in 14 appearances.

He helped the club retain the MTN FA Cup and as well win the President Cup by beating bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko 2-1.

Despite the successes with the club, it remains unclear whether he will extend his stay, with various reports stipulating that he has in the past rejected numerous extension offers from the club.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Ibrabim Danlad has extended his stay with Asante Kotoko. Ibrabim Danlad’s initial contract with the club was expected to end later this year. However, he has agreed to extend his stay by two more years after successful negotiations.

Ibrabim Danlad became Asante Kotoko’s first choice goalkeeper following the departure of Razak Abalora to Moldovan outfit Sheriff Tiraspol earlier this year.

The Black Galaxies goalkeeper made 20 league appearances for the club, kept 12 clean-sheets and conceded only 12 goals, a feat which helped the club win their first league title since 2014.
