Asante Kotoko react to Nicholas Mensah’s one year ban

Asante Kotoko has released a press statement on a year ban placed on Nicholas Mensah by the Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Nicholas Mensah’s license as a player was revoked by the DC of the Ghana FA in February for fraudulently change of his identity.

The winger landed in trouble after Aduana FC filed a protest against his eligibility after their Gameweek 10 betBawa Premier League clash which ended scoreless.

Aduana FC had claimed that the player who was previously identified himself as Louis Mensah and now Nicholas Mensah did not have the required certification for a change in name.

However, the DC of the Ghana FA dismissed the petition and instead held Mensah’s former club, Dumasua Delsanco FC, liable for the illegal registration.

The player was then handed an indefinite ban but has now been specified as a year with a retrospective effect from 10th February 2023.

Reacting to the development, management of Asante Kotoko has released a statement stating that it’ll review the verdict before considering its next steps.

“Asante Kotoko SC notes the decision of the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA to issue a one-year ban from all football and football-related activity to Nicholas Mensah with a retrospective effect from 10th February 2023,” a statement on Asante Kotoko website read.

“The club will review the verdict before considering our next steps.”

Nicholas Mensah joined Asante Kotoko from Dumasua Delsanco FC on a 3-year deal at the start of the ongoing season.
