Communications Director of Asante Kotoko, David Obeng Nyarko has provided an update on the club’s managerial situation.

According to recent reports, Asante Kotoko is currently manager-less after Prosper Narteh Ogum resigned from his post as Head Coach of the team due to a misunderstanding with the club’s management team led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nana Yaw Amponsah.

Responding to the reports, David Obeng stated that indeed there have been rumors. However, the club is yet to make an official statement on the issue.

“The club is yet to officially make any announcement in respect to whether our Head Coach position is still vacant or not,” David Obeng Nyarko said during the launching of the club’s preseason trip to Turkey.

“Of course they have been rumors out there but as it stands now we know how we do our official communication, so it’ll be prudent for all of us to wait and see the official communication from the club

He continued: “And just to add to that, recently Barcelona travelled for preseason. Unfortunately Xavi couldn’t make it but they still had their pre-season, so the preseason is a preparation for the team. We are just preparing the team and as I said, until the club officially comes out it’s important that we take it as it is.

The Porcupine Warriors will begin preparations for the new season next week. The team will travel to Turkey in August for a 2-week preseason tour.

Asante Kotoko during the preseason tour will take on Nigeria Champions River United. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, August 24 in Istanbul.
