Ghana’s all-time scorer Asamoah Gyan made his first appearance in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) for over 17 years as Legon Cities and Medeama draw blank, 0-0.

Asamoah Gyan previously play in the GPL for Liberty Professionals in the 2003/04 season, scoring 10 goals in 16 games before leaving the side to join Italian fold Udinese.

Gyan made his return to the GPL last month when he signed for Legon Cities on deadline day. However, Gyan failed to make an appearance for his new side in their first two games of the season due to lack of match fitness.

The 35-year-old was fit this time, but could only make the bench as Legon Cities welcomed Medeama to the Accra Sports Stadium.

The first half of the game ended scoreless, with Raphael Ocloo and Nat Akwa coming the closest to scoring for Legon Cities, whiles Ebenezer Ackhabi came close to scoring for Medeama.

The first 25 minutes of the second half still saw no goals. Asanoah Gyan was introduced into the game in the 70th minute.

Although Gyan’s inclusion couldn’t change the scoreline for Legon Cities, he showed glimpses of what fans of the club should expect from him.
