Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta have provided updates on Thomas Partey’s injury.
The Ghanaian international picked up a thigh injury and was replaced by Dani Ceballos at half time in Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium before the international break.
The injury ruled Thomas Partey out of Ghana’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan, he stayed in London for treatment.
Speaking to the media ahead of Arsenal’s game against Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday evening, manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that Partey will not be available for selection and he will continue his rehabilitation.
“No, he picked up an injury very early in the game [against Aston Villa], he tried to carry on and he wanted to play the second half and we knew it was a significant injury,” the Spanish manager to Arsenal’s official website.
“He has done really well, he is working very hard and he wants to be available. Hopefully we can get him back soon but it is an area where we have to be careful and a bit protective with the player.
Arsenal will hope to have Thomas Partey back in time. The €50m summer signing has been an integral member of the team since signing on deadline day, he has featured in 5 games, with 4 of those appearances coming in the league and the other in the Europa league.
