Ampem Darkoa Ladies pip Delta Queens to win the WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League

Ampem Darkoa Ladies have won the WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League staged in Nigeria after beating Delta Queens 1-0 in the final.

Having scored 13 goals in their first 3 games of the competition, the Ghana Women’s Premier League champions headed into the final brimming with confidence.

The opening minutes of the final was cagily contested and saw both teams create fewer chances but Ampem Darkoa headed into the break a goal up, Ophelia Amponsah connected with a Nancy Amoh freekick to give her side the lead.

In the second half, Delta Queens who were chasing the game pushed bodies forward in search of the equalizer but Ampem Darkoa Ladies were resolute in all departments of the field as they won the game 1-0.

The win sees Ampem Darkoa Ladies win the WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League and as well secure a place in the third edition of the Women’s CAF Champions League to be played from Sunday, November 5 to Sunday, November 19, 2023 in Ivory Coast.

Other teams to compete in the Champions league are; Athlético FC d’Abidjan (hosts) from Ivory Coast, Mali’s AS Mandé, JKT Queens of Tanzania, AS FAR (holders) and SC Casablanca of Morocco.

The remaining two slots will be competed for by teams in the UNIFFAC and COSAFA region.
