Ampem Darkoa Ladies beat Hasaacas Ladies to win the Women’s Premier League for the second consecutive season

Ampem Darkoa Ladies defeated Hasaacas Ladies 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw to win the 2022/23 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League for the second consecutive season.

The first half of the game ended scoreless but wasn’t short of excitement, both sides created chances but failed to take them.

Hasaacas Ladies returned from the break with added impetus and came close to scoring in the 60th minute, a pile driver from Doris Boaduwaa struck the post.

Two minutes later, Hasaacas Ladies broke the deadlock, Doris Boaduwaa leapt high to head in a corner-kick.

Hasaacas Ladies after going ahead had chances to increase their tally but failed to take them and were eventually punished in the 84th minute, ‪Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah‬ scored to make it 1-1 and push the game into extra-time.

In extra-time, the two teams pushed for the winner but to no avail as the game ended 1-1 and went into penalty shootouts. The shootouts ended 5-3, ‪Success Ameyaa ‬the villain in the shootout.

The triumph means Ampem Darkoa Ladies will represent Ghana in next year’s WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League.
