Head Coach of Ajax, Maurice Steijn, has pleaded with Mohammed Kudus to remain at the club despite strong interest from top European clubs.
Mohammed Kudus has been a subject of transfer since the beginning of the ongoing transfer window. Per reports, the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle United and so on have shown interest.
In a recent report from the Athletic, Chelsea have made contact with Ajax to express an interest in signing the Ghanaian midfielder. The report adds that Chelsea is yet to submit an official offer for Kudus, however an agreement with the Ghana international on personal terms is close.
Amid those reports, head Head Coach of Ajax, Maurice Steijn has advised Kudus to stay for one more season and continue his fine development.
“I feel that when Kudus decides to stay for one more year, the real top clubs will then come for him. If we win the league and he scores 20 goals, clubs will pay double for him. This is what we are trying to tell him now.”
Kudus joined Ajax in 2020 from Danish fold Nordsjaelland and is under contract with the club until 2025, having rejected a one-year extension in April this year.
The 23-year old enjoyed his best season since arriving in Europe last season, scoring 18 goals and providing 7 assists in 42 appearances in all competitions for Ajax last season.
He also scored twice for Ghana in a 3-2 win against South Korea in the group stages of the World Cup in Qatar in November.
