Fans of Aduana Stars have expressed their disappointment and fury at Ghana Football Association (GFA) for announcing Asante Kotoko and Ashanti Gold as Ghana’s representatives in Africa.
GFA after cancelling the league last week announced that Asante Kotoko and Ashanti Gold will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions league and Confederations cup respectively.
But fans of Aduana stars haven’t welcomed the decision as they’ve written to the FA to express their disappointment.
“We the supporters of Aduana Stars are not happy about the decision taken by the Executive Council of the GFA to choose Kotoko and Ashantigold to represent Ghana, the statement said.”
“So our view is, if the league is canceled, the last recognized league played in Ghana was 2016/17 season of which Aduana Stars won and still remains the defending champion.
“Hence has the right to represent Ghana in Africa club competitions. We want to take this opportunity and call on the Executive Council to reconsider their decision as we all want to help bring back the love of our game, the statement concluded.”
Aduana Stars were sitting top of the league table when the league was cancelled.
