Accra Hearts of Oak in hot waters

After seeing Medeama docked 3 points and 3 goals for fielding an unqualified player, Hearts of Oak could be the second club to suffer similar fate with a matter of days.

According to reports, the Phobians fielded an unqualified player in the person of Emmanuel Netty in gameweek 12’s encounter against Elmina Sharks at the Accra Sports Stadium Stadium.

The industrious midfielder who has been the spine of the Hearts of Oak midfield since joining in January was booked on a single time in 3 different games before the Elmina Sharks encounter.

Emmanuel Netty received his first caution of the season in Hearts of Oak’s match day 8 encounter with AshantiGold at the Accra Sports Stadium, he picked his second booking against Bechem United in gameweek 10, before picking the 3rd in Hearts of Oak’s scoreless game against Karela at the Akoon Park in Gameweek 11, which made him ineligible for Gameweek 12’s duel against Elmina Sharks.

Although the Phobians didn’t field Emmanuel Netty for the FA cup tie against Danbort, it is a thing to note that cautions picked in the league does not affect other FA competitions.

The Phobians fielded Emmanuel Netty for match day 12’s fixture against Elmina Sharks. The midfielder was left out for the Inter Allies versus Hearts duel in gameweek 13 for the same reason they could be docked points (ineligible).

Although Sharks have not filed a protest against the Phobians, the revelation comes to the notice of the Ghanaian footballing world through a whistleblower. It now appears that several clubs are unaware of the GFA’s new law which was passed in December.

The Phobians will in the coming days know their fate. If found guilty and docked points, the club would be left in the relegation zone.
