Abdul Aziz Nurudeen hits stunner as Hearts of Oak ease to victory against Nations FC

Hearts of Oak continued their preparations for the upcoming betPawa Premier League season with a 2-0 win against newly promoted Nations FC at the heavily crowded Kpobiman Sports Complex.

Newly appointed Head Coach, Martin Koopman paraded a very strong lineup, handing starting roles to; Richard Attah, Micheal Ampadu, Denis Korsah, Liventus Attur, Kelvin Asibey, Kofi Agbesimeh, Glid Otanga, Eric Esso, Kashala Ramos, Evans Adomako and Salifu Ibrahim.

The first 45 minutes of the game produced no goals but wasn’t short of excitement, both teams had chances to score but failed to take them.

Hearts of Oak started the second half the much better side and went ahead in the 64th minute, Abdul-Aziz Nurudeen who recently recuperated from a recurring thigh injury opened the scoring with an effort from 22-yards.

Martin Koopman’s side doubled their lead in the 79th minute, Kwadwo Obeng Jnr headed home a sweet cross from Denis Korsah to make it 2-0 and wrap up the win.

The 2-0 win is Hearts’ ninth win in recent friendly games, beating Dolphins FC 4-0, Evergreen FC 2-1, Miracle Land 11-1, Attram de Visser 6-1, Lazio Spot 4-1, Okwahu United 2-0, Susubribi FC 2-0 and Vision FC 3-1.

The friendly games forms part of the team’s preparations for the 2023/24 betPawa Premier League season which they’ll get underway on Friday, September 15 against Real Tamale United (RTU) at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.

Hearts of Oak are looking to bounce back from a torrid 2022/23 season which saw them fail to retain the MTN FA Cup and as well finish in 12th place on the league table, avoiding relegation on the final day of the season.
