2023 U23 AFCON Qualifiers: How Ghana could lineup against Algeria in Annaba

The Black Meteors (U-23) will take on their Algeria counterparts in the first leg of the final qualifying round of the 2023 CAF U23 Championship at the 19 May 1956 in Annaba.

Ghana is hoping to make the Championship for the second consecutive time. Ibrahim Tanko who led the team to the previous edition in Egypt in 2019 has been mandated to make that happen.

The former Ghana international has an array of talents to chosen from for the first leg in Annaba. The likes of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Ibrahim Danlad, Ernest Nuamah, Emmanuel Yeboah, Salim Adams, Abass Samari and so on are available for selection.

Despite being included in the final 26-man squad, Cremonese forward Felix Afena Gyan is reportedly not available for selection after turning down an invitation.

How Ghana could lineup

Asante Kotoko shot stopper Ibrahim Danlad is expected to be handed a starting role ahead of William Essu and Dari Aziz Haruna.

Ibrahim Danlad is expected to be protected by Karela’s Augustine Randolf, David Oppong of King Faisal, Emmanuel Adjei of Attram De Visser Academy and Aduana’s Godfred Poku Waki.

In midfield, Emmanuel Essiam of FC Basel and Accra Lions duo, Dominic Nsobila and Abass Samari Salifu are expected to be selected.

The attack is expected to be led by Sporting Lisbon’s Fatawu Issahaku, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh of FC Zurich and FC Nordjaelland’s Ernest Nuamah.

The game will kickoff at 19:00 GMT.
