The maiden edition of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Awards ceremony was successfully held at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) auditorium on Saturday night.
The awards night saw the best players in the betPawa Premier League, Access Bank Division One League, Women’s Premier League, the MTN FA Cup and the Juvenile League in the 2022/23 season rewarded.
betPawa Premier League winners, Medeama and Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League winners, Ampem Darkoa Ladies swept the awards, winning four awards each.
Medeama walked home with the betPawa Premier League Coach of the year (Evans Augustine Adotey), Goalkeeper of the year (Felix Kyei), Player of the year (Vincent Atinga) and Club of the year.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies on the hand walked home with the Women’s Premier League Coach of the year (Nana Joe Adarkwah), Top scorer (Mary Amponsah), Player of the year (Mary Amponsah) and Club of the year.
Asante Kotoko won the most branded and the most vibrant supporters of the year, while Samartex won the best supporters of the year.
Baba Hamadu Musah of then Skyy FC and now Samartex FC was named top scorer and best player of the Access Bank Division One League.

The ultimate award of the night which is the referee of the year went to Julian Nunoo, earning himself a brand new Hyundai Elantra. Rita Nkansah Boateng was named best female referee of the season.
