Posted by betPawa Premier League returnees Heart of Lions defeated Eleven Wonders 4-2 at the Paa Joe Park to progress to the semifinal of the 2023 Division One League Super Cup.
Lions opened the scoring in the 14th minute through a goal from Nana Kwame Oppong. With few minutes to end the first half, Ebenezer Abban scored to hand Lions a 2-0 lead at the break.
In the 68th minute, Taufik Fuseini scored to reduce the deficit and give Techiman Eleven Wonders hope of a comeback but the hope was dashed in the 78th minute when Samuel Agbenyegah put the ball at the back of the net.
Akwasi Duah made it 4-1 for the Premier League returnees in 85th minute but Wonders scored a face saving goal later on, Joshua Nortei the scorer.
In the other game, Nations FC defeated Koforidua Semper FI 2-0 to finish on top of Group A with 7 points. The promoted side defeated Heart of Lions 1-0 in the first game and came from 2 goals down to draw 2-2 with Eleven Wonders in the second game.
On Sunday, August 27, the curtains will be drawn on the group stage games, Bofoakwa Tano will take on Young Apostles and Skyy will face Nzema Kotoko.
The table toppers from the group will face Heart Lions in the semifinal, while runners up in the group face Nations FC in the other semifinal.
