FC Basel center-back Kasim Nuhu Adams has been called up to replace Alexander Djiku for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Madagascar.
Kasim Adams comes to fill the void created by RC Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku who injured his ankle in a French Ligue 1 game against Troyes on Sunday, May 21, 2023.
The 27-year old enjoyed a terrific 2022/23 season with FC Basel, where he was on loan from Hoffenheim. He made 42 appearances for the team and scored 3 goals.
Kasim Adams is no new face to the Black Stars. The Basel defender has made 11 appearances for the team, with his last appearance coming in 219 against Mali in a 3-0 defeat in a friendly game.
Kasim becomes the second player to receive a late call-up as replacement for an injured player after Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer who was called up earlier this week to replace Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams.
The Black Stars will begin camping in Accra on Monday, June 12 to prepare for the crucial qualifier scheduled for Antananarivo on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
