2023 AFCON Qualifiers: Andre Ayew returns; Kpozo handed debut start, Kamaldeen and Paintsil start upfront: Ghana’s lineup vs Madagascar

Head Coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has named his starting eleven for the 2023 Group E African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Madagascar in Antananarivo.

Lawrence Ati Zigi starts in goal ahead of Abdul Manaf Nurudeen and Jojo Wollacott.

Dennis Odoi starts at right back, while Patrick Kpozo starts at left-back, earning his maiden start. Joseph Aidoo and Daniel Amartey are paired in defense.

In midfield, Salis Abdul Samed and Thomas Partey are picked for the central midfield positions, while Andre Ayew plays slightly ahead of the two, earning his first start under Chris Hughton.

Jordan Ayew, Joseph Paintsil and Kamaldeen Sulemana lead the attack.

A win for Ghana will secure them a place at the 2023 AFCON to be played in Cote D’Ivoire in January and February next year.
