The Black Stars have returned to training after their 3-2 defeat to Portugal in the opening Group G game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Thursday at the Stadium 974.

Portugal scored first in the 65th minute from a controversial Ronaldo penalty. Ghana pulled parity through Andre Ayew in the 73rd minute, before João Felix and Rafael Leao scored two quick goals to make it 3-1. Later in the game, Ghana pulled a goal back through Osman Bukari.

Hours after the defeat, the Black Stars have resumed training at the Aspire Zone training facilities 1 as they set sights on their next game against South Korea.

Head Coach of the team, Otto Addo is confident that his team will dump the defeat to Portugal and win the final two games against South Korea and Uruguay to qualify to the knockout round.

“First of all, surely, we have a chance especially because they played a draw so if we win against South Korea and Portugal win hopefully against Uruguay then we will be second so the chance is still big. And surely it will be very, very tough to beat South Korea because they are good. But now we have to win. We are under pressure but they too,” Addo said after the defeat to Portugal.

The Black Stars will take on South Korea on Monday, November 28 at the Education City Stadium and then play Uruguay in the final game on Friday, December 2 at the Al Janoub Stadium.
